Senior Legal Officer / DPO Senior Legal Officer / DPO

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day legal support to the Company, including drafting and reviewing various types of legal documents and agreements, such as commercial and corporate ones.
  • Provide internal legal advice and opinions to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Perform research on legal cases to stay up-to-date with industry developments.
  • Cooperate with independent external law offices to ensure seamless legal support.
  • Support the continuous improvement of standard form agreements and legal processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Generate reports, coordinate responses, and compile information/documentation requested by various departments and external professionals.
  • Act as the Data Protection Officer of the Company and ensure compliance with all legislation related to data protection.
  • Enhance company and employee awareness on data protection matters through training and education.
  • Monitor and oversee compliance with all legislation in relation to data protection and handle issues related to personal data protection.
  • Provide advice on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA) and monitor their performance.
  • Draft new and review/amend existing internal data protection policies, guidelines, and procedures in consultation with relevant departments.
  • Maintain records of all data processing activities of the Company and keep up-to-date with internal IT systems and processes.
  • Cooperate with Data Protection Authorities and act as a contact person on issues relating to processing and data protection law and framework.
  • Provide recommendations for the implementation of relevant technical and organizational measures to ensure compliance with data protection regulations.
Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Law from a common law jurisdiction, preferably with a Master of Laws or Legal Practice Course (LPC).
  • Admission to the Cyprus Bar Association is required.
  • At least 4 years of post-qualification experience as a commercial lawyer at a law firm and/or as an in-house legal advisor.
  • At least 2 years of experience in data protection compliance in the banking or financial services sector.
  • Sound knowledge of laws, regulations, and directives relevant to data protection, including local and EU laws.
  • Previous experience with regulated firms and the FX/CFDs industry is an advantage.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English and good drafting ability.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential.
  • Resourceful with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and strong ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Self-motivated, ambitious, and dynamic with strong attention to detail.
