Job Description

The Card Operations Specialist (Issuing & Acquiring) is responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of both issuing and acquiring card processes. This role involves (but is not limited to) handling card lifecycle management, transaction monitoring, settlement reconciliation, dispute resolution, and vendor coordination to ensure compliance, accuracy, and efficiency within the card ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Issuing Operations
  • Implement and manage and end-to-end card lifecycle processes.
  • Coordinate with card processors and card manufacturing vendors.
  • Monitor card transaction processing, authorization and clearing.
  • Handle resolution of transaction failures, chargebacks, reversals, refunds, and disputes.

  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational SLAs.

  • Acquiring Operations

  • Manage merchant onboarding, acquiring system configurations and terminal provisioning.
  • Support transaction settlement / reconciliation between merchants, processors, and systems.
  • Handle chargeback cases, retrieval requests, and settlement disputes with acquiring partners.
  • Monitor acquiring transaction performance, settlement timelines, and exception handling.

  • Liaise with payment gateways, acquirers, and card schemes to ensure compliance / efficiency.

  • Cross-functional Responsibilities

  • Investigate fraudulent transactions and suspicious activities across all payment channels.
  • Maintain accurate records regarding fraud cases, disputes, and investigations.
  • Support the development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Prepare suspicious activity and fraud reports, fraud, chargeback & dispute summaries.
  • Assist with customer KYC & maintenance responsibilities when required.

Required qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Information Technology or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of card scheme rules, card operations and payment processing.
  • Experience with card management systems and payment gateways.
  • Proficient communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Certifications related to VISA/Mastercard schemes and / or CPP and / or CFE is considered a plus.
