Credit Risk Analyst

Responsibilities
:

  • Underwriting & Due Diligence

:
 Conduct in-depth credit assessments and financial analysis of prospective and existing merchant applications, focusing on financial statements, business models, and fraud risk
- Exposure Management

:
 Set, review, and adjust appropriate merchant processing limits, collateral requirements (e.g., reserves), and payment terms to mitigate potential credit losses
- Portfolio Monitoring

:
 Perform ongoing monitoring of the merchant portfolio, identifying early warning indicators, anomalies in processing volume, and signs of financial deterioration
- Policy & Compliance

:
 Ensure all underwriting and credit risk procedures adhere strictly to internal risk appetite, Card Scheme rules, and UK financial regulations (e.g., FCA requirements)
- Stakeholder Collaboration

:
 Partner closely with Sales, Compliance, and Operations teams to ensure a balance between effective risk management and enabling business growth

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in Credit Risk or Underwriting, ideally within merchant acquiring, payments, FinTech, or commercial banking
  • Strong financial analysis skills, including the ability to interpret company financial statements and calculate key credit ratios
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with proficiency in 
    Excel
     and 
    SQL
     (or similar data tools) a plus
  • Solid understanding of the payments ecosystem, including chargebacks and regulatory requirements for UK financial institutions
  • Proficiency in English
