Role Overview:

The Director of Groups & Events will lead the strategy and execution of all group sales, meetings, conferences, weddings, and events across our Group of Hotels and Resorts. This senior role will focus on maximizing revenue, delivering exceptional guest experiences, and positioning our Hotels and Resorts as premier destinations for leisure, social and corporate events.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in hospitality group sales and event management, strong leadership skills, and the ability to combine commercial acumen with operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Commercial & Sales Strategy

o  Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy for groups, conferences, weddings, and events.

o  Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, event planners, travel agents, and DMCs (Destination Management Company).

o  Identify new business opportunities and secure long-term partnerships for recurring group and event bookings.

o  Collaborate with Revenue Management and Reservations Department to optimize pricing, packages, and inventory allocation for groups and events.

o  Oversee events related promotional activities and material, social media content

o  Monitor sales targets and KPIs, ensuring revenue growth and profitability.

o  Participate in site inspections and client meetings, showcasing Group of Hotels and Resorts facilities and services.

o  Draft and review contracts in collaboration with the Legal Department to ensure compliance and accuracy.

Event Planning & Execution

o  Oversee the end-to-end planning and delivery of events, ensuring seamless execution and guest satisfaction.

o  Work closely with operations teams (banqueting, F&B, rooms division, technical services) and any third party suppliers involved to deliver high-quality events.

o  Ensure all events meet brand standards and exceed client expectations.

o  Anticipate guest needs, provide creative event solutions, and resolve any issues promptly.

Leadership & Collaboration

o  Lead, coach, and inspire the Groups & Events team, ensuring a culture of excellence, accountability, and guest focus.

o  Partner with the Sales, Marketing, and Revenue teams to align event strategies with overall commercial goals.

o  Collaborate with Hotel General Managers and operational leaders to ensure service delivery and consistency across properties.

o  Represent the hotels at industry events, international trade shows, and networking opportunities.

Financial & Performance Management

o  Manage the Groups & Events budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.

o  Provide regular performance reports, forecasts, and insights to senior leadership.

o  Track and analyze market trends, competitor activity, and client feedback to refine strategies.

o  Drive upselling and cross-selling opportunities across rooms, F&B, and leisure facilities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business, Event Management, or related field.
  • Master's degree or MBA will be considered an advantage.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in groups and events within luxury hotels or resorts, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong track record in group sales, conference & banqueting, and event execution.
  • Excellent client relationship management and negotiation skills.
  • Deep knowledge of the luxury hospitality segment, as well as leisure and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) market.
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale events and complex operations including social and music events, weddings.
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal in English. Greek and any other languages will be considered an advantage.
  • Strong ability to work as part of a team across the organisation.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets and ROI.
  • Proficiency in event management systems, CRM tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Flexible to travel internationally when required.
