We are working with a fast growing EMI Payment Platform who are seeking a
Financial Controller
to lead its finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all financial operations, including accounting, month-end/quarter-end/year-end reporting, in line with IFRS and local regulations.
  • Ensure full compliance with
    EMI regulatory requirements
    : safeguarding of client funds, capital adequacy, liquidity, AML/KYC, and other obligations set by the Central Bank of Cyprus and EU directives.
  • Manage cash flow, liquidity, and treasury across multiple currencies and jurisdictions.
  • Prepare and submit financial and regulatory reports for management, auditors, and regulators.
  • Coordinate external audits, tax compliance, and regulatory reviews.
  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls, financial policies, and procedures to protect company and client assets.
  • Collaborate with Product, Compliance, Risk, Operations, and Technology teams to align finance with strategic and operational goals.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning, and cost analysis for new products and markets.
  • Mentor and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of compliance, accuracy, and innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA) or Master's preferred.
  • 5+ years' proven experience
    in a senior finance role, ideally as Financial Controller, within an EMI, payments, fintech, or other regulated financial services environment.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, EMI regulations, safeguarding, capital/liquidity reporting, and EU/local compliance standards.
  • Excellent understanding of multi-currency accounting and cash management in cross-border environments.
  • Experience with audits, tax, and regulatory filings.
  • Proficiency in financial/accounting systems and advanced Excel skills; experience with banking or payments platforms advantageous.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage and motivate teams.
  • Fluency in English and Greek.
