About our game

Taonga: the Island Farm is an immersive exploration and adventure game set on a colorful tropical archipelago.

What begins as a casual farming experience gradually evolves into a rich, multi-layered adventure. Players discover increasing depth through travel, story-driven quests, strategic battles, engaging mini-games, competitive events, and much more—transforming the game into a captivating midcore adventure with sophisticated mechanics.

Taonga was launched as a browser game in 2016 and became an immediate success, beloved by players worldwide. Our team is committed to continuously developing the game at a dynamic pace, adding new features, seasonal events and permanent content on a regular basis.

We are looking for a talented and motivated Junior Game Designer to join our team in expanding the world of Taonga and bringing delightful experiences to our players.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualising and executing new adventures and events

  • Developing new game mechanics

  • Assembling adventure maps.

Our ideal candidate

  • You have vast gaming experience on different platforms

  • You've had at least some creative experience in game development – not necessarily in a professional capacity. Good examples include:

    • Custom maps in editors – like HOMM, Warcraft, Starcraft

    • Game modding

    • Personal game project

  • You've had at least some programming or near-programming experience, such as:

    • HTML layout editing

    • Excel calculations

    • Scripting of any complexity

    • Mastery of a programming language

  • You'll get a chance to show off your skills in our test assignment.

Where you'll be working at

We work on-site in a modern business building in Limassol. We like a lot of space and a lot of air, and we built our office to create a calm and comfortable environment, conductive to the state of flow.

How you'll get there

One thing our team members agree on is that relocation was a breeze. Volka handles all the paperwork to bring you to Cyprus and all the legwork to settle you here. We help with opening the bank account, obtaining permits for you and your family and take over other bureaucratic matters that are an annoying necessity of moving to a new country. For you it will be like booking a vacation with a tourist agency. Except, you know, you'll have to work here.

Moving to a new country may seem a little daunting, and we know that because most of us have been through it. There will be challenges for you to face, including finding a place to live, adjusting to the local way of life and finding new friends. But fear not, for Volka will support you along the way
