ONE (1) POSITION OF COMMUNICATION, EVENTS AND SOCIAL MEDIA OFFICER

The ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence (ECoE) ) of the Cyprus University of Technology ) invites applications for one position of Communication, Events and Social Media Officer at ERATOSTHENES CoE. The position is open either on a full-time or part-time employment basis. 
The position is open to everyone internationally in the framework of the EU-H2020 "EXCELSIOR" project (Excellence Research Centre for Earth Surveillance and Space-Based Monitoring of the Environment; ; TEAMING Grant no Through this project, the Cyprus University of Technology is establishing the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence in Space Technology, Earth Observation and Geospatial Technology in the EMMENA (Eastern Mediterranean Middle East North Africa) region, in cooperation with the Department of Electronic Communications (DEC) from the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy (Cyprus) and with EU advanced Partners the German Aerospace Centre (DLR, Germany), TROPOS (Germany) and the National Observatory of Athens (NOA-Greece).

The ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence is an autonomous Centre of Excellence with Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) as its sole stakeholder, aiming to become a viable, sustainable Centre of Excellence in earth observation, space technology and geospatial analysis. CUT has a 13-year experience in earth observations and geospatial analysis. Through the "EXCELSIOR" H2020 Teaming Project , the ERATOSTHENES CoE aspires to become an excellent Digital Innovation Hub for Earth Observation and Geospatial Information by offering education, responsible research, open innovation and application services capable of sustaining Cyprus' development. The ERATOSTHENES CoE aspires to actively contribute to the European Research Area (ERA) priorities in Atmosphere and Climate, Resilient Societies and Big Earth Data Analytics, as well as to become the reference Earth Observation/Geoinformation Centre for research and innovation in the Eastern Mediterranean, Middle East and North Africa (EMMENA) region.

Description of the Position
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing the Centre's communication and dissemination strategy in an integrated manner and implementing it through impactful and coordinated evidence-based campaigns as well as events, workshops, presentations, meetings, conferences and social events, which will promote the culture and the functions of the Centre. The appointee will provide active and continuous support to the Centre in building mutual relationships and partnerships across a range of stakeholders, through the organisation of events and use of social media outlets, websites, promotional campaigns, e-newsletters, e-mails and other communication.

Duties and Responsibilities
A core activity of ERATOSTHENES CoE is to conduct high caliber, state-of-the-art research, both basic and applied. A central task is to acquire research funding for the Centre, to provide facilities to the researchers, and to support them to acquire funding for their research independently and via international and local collaborations. Collaborations with industrial partners will be particularly encouraged and facilitated. The Communication, Events and Social Media Officer duties and responsibilities will be directed into implementing these key targets.
In particular, the successful candidate's duties and responsibilities will include:

• Write, edit, and distribute content, including newsletters, press releases, website content, and other marketing material that communicates the organisation's activities and/or services;

• Seek opportunities to enhance the reputation of the organisation, and coordinate publicity events as required;

• Maintain records of media coverage and collate analytics and metrics;

• Prepare and manage social media communications;

• Assist in organisation of events/activities;

• Plan meetings and take detailed minutes;

• Provide general support to visitors;

• Maintain contact lists;

• Promote communication and dissemination activities of funded projects;

• Any other relevant duties deemed necessary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Business, Marketing, English, Journalism, Media or a related discipline;

• Excellent command of Greek and English, both written and spoken;

• Additional languages will be considered a plus;

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills;
Excellent time management and organizational skills;

• Proficient in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and social media platforms;

• Excellent team working ability;

• Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment;

• Ability to work in a dynamic and multicultural environment;

• Comprehension of Earth Observation and Remote Sensing related topics will be considered as a plus.

The appointment will be for a period of one year (12 months) with the prospect of renewal for another one year. The annual gross salary for the (full-time) position will range from €24500 to €37667, depending on qualifications. It is noted that there is provision for 13th salary which has been proportionally incorporated in the monthly remuneration.
