The Senior Associate (Regulatory Compliance) role falls under the advisory function of the Stratos Group Compliance Department and requires a deep understanding of financial regulations as they apply to both the Firm and the broader Group. The role involves supporting the Firm's compliance program by strengthening its framework, guiding monitoring activities, and contributing to the review of financial promotions and marketing initiatives. Additionally, the role provides regulatory advice and develops tailored compliance solutions for other regulated entities within the Stratos Group.

Primary responsibilities (not limited to)

  • Stay abreast of the regulatory environment and expectations
  • Analysis of incoming regulations and support implementation
  • Lead the research initiatives when penetrating new markets, acquiring new business or applying for regulatory licenses
  • Administer a number of key compliance responsibilities, with a principal focus on the regulatory framework of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC). The candidate will be expected to monitor, review, and advise on CySEC regulatory requirements, ensuring their consistent and effective application within the Firm's compliance program.

In addition, the role encompasses responsibility for researching, interpreting, and advising on regulatory developments issued by other key supervisory authorities, including the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA), and the Financial Services Authority of Seychelles (FSA).

  • Assist in the preparation of a compliance risk assessment on the inherent compliance risk exposure of the Firm or any of the Stratos Group entities
  • Assist in preparing a monthly regulatory sweep
  • Assist the marketing department with research on marketing practices in jurisdictions where the Firm conducts its business
  • Provide input in the form of memorandums or policy updates in a timely fashion to senior compliance management to serve in front of various Firm and/or Group committees - Credit Risk Committee, Financial Crime Compliance Committee, Risk Management Committee, Product Governance Committee and any other committee
  • Support the Managing Director of Regulatory Compliance in the continual evaluation and implementation of relevant compliance policies, procedures and processes
  • Draft written policies and procedures
  • Conduct gap analysis of policies and procedures and assist with the remediation of noted deficiencies
  • Handle external requests for information from regulatory bodies/external stakeholders
  • Assist in projects that have regulatory implications
  • Perform other assignments and tasks as assigned by management

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of compliance or related legal experience.
  • A degree in finance, law, business or a related field
  • Experience working with financial regulations and regulatory bodies.
  • Working knowledge of the EU financial services regulatory framework, with particular experience and/or knowledge of the regulatory regime applicable to Contracts for Differences (CFDs), exchange-traded financial instruments, and crypto-assets governed under the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) Regulation.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with the business and build smooth working relationships across departments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to adapt and prioritise in a fast-moving, constantly evolving regulatory environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills

Working Hours:
40/week, Monday–Friday.
Hybrid:
3 days in-office.
