As a large, well established international provider, our client is looking for a senior level qualified lawyer, expert in common law and arbitration. This person will be the first to join in Cyprus and can be based in Nicosia or Limassol on a hybrid arrangement. Colleagues on the team are spread across the Middle East region.

The team handles matters pertaining to Compliance, Regulatory, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Ethics, Anti-Corruption, Independence and Risk Management for the Middle East & Cyprus region.

Job Description

  • Supporting the General Counsel (the Department Head, based in Dubai) in the management of all matters on the portfolio.
  • Acting as the first point of contact for queries and escalations from team members.
  • Overseeing the entire portfolio across 16 countries and approximately 20 jurisdictions.
  • Issuing clear and detailed instructions to external counsel.
  • Formulating case strategies, both procedural and substantive.
  • Preparing reports and updates for the General Counsel.

Your Profile

  • Undergraduate degree in Law or a related field from a reputable university.
  • Qualified common law practitioner with a minimum of 7 years' post-admission/qualification experience in dispute resolution, including litigation, arbitration and other Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) methods. Civil law experience is an advantage.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in demanding situations and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communicator, especially skilled in written English, with strong verbal abilities. *Knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
