About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented
Senior Compliance & AML Office
r to join our growing team in Nicosia.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the firm's compliance and anti-money laundering functions in accordance with
CySEC, MiFID II,
and
MiCAR
regulatory frameworks.
This position reports directly to the Chief Compliance Officer (CCO)
and plays a key role in ensuring that Backpack EU continues to uphold the highest standards of integrity, governance, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Chief Compliance Officer in implementing and maintaining an effective compliance and AML framework.
• Ensure continuous compliance with CySEC, MiFID II, and other applicable regulations.
• Monitor regulatory developments, including MiCAR, and assess their impact on the company's operations.
• Draft, review, and update compliance and AML policies, procedures, and manuals.
• Conduct regular compliance monitoring, internal audits, and risk assessments.
• Oversee Know Your Customer (KYC) and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) processes to ensure adherence to AML/CFT obligations.
• Identify, investigate, and report suspicious transactions to MOKAS, maintaining appropriate records and documentation.
• Prepare and submit required reports and notifications to CySEC and other competent authorities.
• Review marketing and communication materials for compliance with regulatory standards.
• Provide ongoing training and support to employees on compliance and AML/CFT matters.
• Liaise with regulators, auditors, and other external stakeholders as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Economics, or a related field (Master's degree or legal qualification preferred).
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in Compliance and/or AML within a CySEC-regulated CIF or other regulated financial institution.
• In-depth knowledge of CySEC, MiFID II, and AML/CFT frameworks.
• Awareness of MiCAR requirements will be considered an advantage.
• CySEC Advanced Certificate (mandatory).
• CySEC AML Certificate or ACAMS Certification (mandatory).
• Excellent command of English (both written and verbal);
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
