ONE (1) ASSISTANT RESEARCHER A' POSITION AT THE RESILIENT SOCIETY DEPARTMENT

ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence ) of Cyprus University of Technology ) invites applications for one (1) position at the Assistant Researcher A' level at the Resilient Society Department of ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence. The position is open either on a full-time (100%) or part-time employment basis. The successful candidate will work under Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence recently commenced Epidemics Cluster under the EXCELSIOR project.

ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence is an autonomous Centre of Excellence with Cyprus University of Technology as its sole stakeholder, specialising in earth observation, space technology and geospatial analysis. Cyprus University of Technology has a 16-year experience in earth observations and geospatial analysis. Through the 'EXCELSIOR' H2020 Teaming Project ), ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence aspires to become a Digital Innovation Hub for Earth Observation and Geospatial Information by offering knowledge, responsible research, open innovation and application services capable of sustaining Cyprus' development. ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence aspires to actively contribute to the European Research Area (ERA) priorities in Atmosphere and Climate, Resilient Societies and Big Earth Data Analytics, as well as to become the reference Earth Observation/Geoinformation Centre for research and innovation in the Eastern Mediterranean, Middle East and North Africa (EMMENA) region.

A core activity of ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence is to conduct high caliber, state-of-the-art research, both basic and applied. A central task is to acquire research funding for the Centre, to provide facilities to the researchers, and to support them to acquire funding for their research independently and via international and local collaborations. Collaborations with industrial partners are particularly encouraged and facilitated.

Description of the Position
This position concerns researchers with a postgraduate degree preferably in the field of Epidemiology and Public Health that will help with the research conducted in the cluster, disseminate the results and contribute in research proposals.

Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be placed in the Resilient Society Department of ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence, and is expected to contribute towards shaping and advancing its research and innovation agenda by working in the recently commenced cluster of Epidemics by fulfilling the following tasks:

• Work independently and/or in a team under close supervision by senior researchers in fundamental and/or applied research, typically in the context of research and/or innovation projects;

• Design and conduct epidemiological studies to investigate disease outbreaks, health trends, and risk factors within populations;

• Analyze complex datasets using statistical software to identify patterns and correlations related to health issues;

• Communicate research findings through reports, presentations, and publications;

• Being able to communicate effectively with various stakeholders and have a good knowledge of the health network in Cyprus;

• Flexible and eager to learn with attention to detail and problem solving skills;

• Writing, managing and / or coordinating funded projects;

• Contributing to the documentation and dissemination of findings, including scientific project proposals, reports, result presentations, and scientific publications;

• Travelling in order to present research findings at scientific conferences or to serve research projects/activities of the cluster;

• Any other relevant duties deemed useful and necessary.

Qualifications
1. B.Sc. in Scientific discipline e.g Biology, Geography, Mathematics;
2. M.Sc. in a relevant subject, such as: Epidemiology, Public Health, Environmental Health;
3. Good knowledge of Statistical packages such as SPSS, SAS and STATA;
4. Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS);
5. Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative science and research;
6. Knowledge of building and managing online surveys and databases;
7. Previous experience in working in a multidisciplinary team;
8. Previous experience in working on funded projects;
9. Advanced knowledge of the English language both verbal and in writing is required.

The appointment will be for twelve (12) months or until the end of the project (which ever comes last). The annual gross salary for the (full-time) position will range from € to € , depending on qualifications. It is noted that there is provision for 13th salary (the cost of the 13th salary is proportionally incorporated in the monthly remuneration).
