Business Intelligence Data Engineer
to join our team.
The BI Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and architectures that support business intelligence and analytics. They transform raw data into well-structured, analytics-ready datasets that BI teams and business stakeholders can use for reporting and decision-making. The role involves collecting data from multiple sources, ensuring it is clean, reliable, and accessible, and collaborating closely with analysts, data scientists, and business teams to deliver accurate, scalable, and efficient data solutions.
Your role at HFM:
- Design, develop, optimize, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for seamless data extraction, transformation, and integration from multiple sources.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries for reporting, analysis, and data validation, applying indexing, partitioning, and query tuning best practices.
- Participate in the design and implementation of data warehouses and data models following best practices.
- Optimize data storage and processing performance for large-scale datasets.
- Implement and maintain semantic and analytical data models to support BI tools, ensuring performance and scalability.
- Ensure data governance, integrity, consistency, scalability, and compliance, enforcing standards for data quality, security, and privacy.
- Define and manage role-based access controls (RBAC) to safeguard sensitive data and manage user permissions.
- Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and engineers to improve data models, workflows, and infrastructure performance.
- Partner with business stakeholders to translate analytical requirements into data-driven solutions and actionable insights.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for pipelines, data models, and BI processes.
- Provide knowledge transfer and training to BI teams and business users on tools, models, and best practices.
- Continuously research, evaluate, and implement new technologies and methods to improve BI and data engineering capabilities.
- Contribute to the migration of BI and data engineering solutions to the Cloud with Microsoft Fabric, enabling scalable, cloud-based data processing and analytics.
Requirements
- University degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in designing, developing, and implementing data solutions.
- Hands-on experience in ETL/ELT pipeline development, including workflow automation and orchestration tools.
- Solid SQL scripting skills and understanding of SQL Server performance optimization, including indexing and query tuning.
- Advanced knowledge of data modeling techniques (e.g., star and snowflake schemas) for BI applications.
- Familiarity with version control systems for managing scripts, BI development, and data workflows.
- Thorough understanding of data governance, quality, and security practices.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with business and technical teams.
- Proven problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Excellent command of the English language.
Nice to have:
- Previous experience in the FX industry.
- Practical experience migrating BI and data engineering solutions to cloud platforms such as Microsoft Fabric or Azure Data Services.
- Hands-on experience with PySpark notebooks for building scalable data pipelines and performing advanced data analytics.
- Familiarity with Power BI for designing interactive datasets, reports, and dashboards.
- Ability to develop DAX measures to support analytical and reporting needs in Power BI.
- Experience with SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) for OLAP modeling.
- Understanding of CI/CD workflows for BI solutions and data pipelines.
