About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Head of Risk to join the Hapic team. Your primary goal in this role is to create a transaction monitoring system in SMART transactions using high technologies and based on best industry practices.

What you will do:

  • Lead the Risk Management function of the Company;
  • Develop and implement a risk management framework that's tailored to our business needs and goals;
  • Implement risk controls and mitigation plans, including for payment fraud (SEPA, SWIFT, cards) and crypto operations.
  • Ensure alignment of risk management practices with MiCA requirements applicable to crypto asset services and issuers, including risk disclosure, asset classification, white paper controls, and operational resilience.
  • Monitoring of crypto-specific fraud/risk vectors
  • Develop and maintain controls for fraud detection, market abuse, and sanction risks specifically relevant to crypto asset operations.
  • Develop and maintain risk-assessment models and methodologies that allow us to identify, assess, and mitigate risks effectively;
  • Develop risk-based products that meet the needs of our clients while balancing risk and reward;
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide regular reports to senior management and the board of directors, including the Annual Risk Management Report;
  • Work closely with our product, engineering, and compliance teams to ensure that risk management considerations are integrated into our product development and operations;
  • Ensure risk-related obligations under PSD2, AML, DORA and GDPR are implemented.Liaise with the ALMCO on the review of the Customer Risk Assessment methodology and ML/FT Business Risk Assessment;

What you will need:

  • Master's degree in risk management, finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field;
  • At least 5 years of experience in risk management, compliance, or a related field, preferably in the payments industry;
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices for risk management;
  • Proven experience in managing risks related to crypto assets, including token issuance, custody, wallet management, and trading platforms under EU regulatory expectations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong leadership and communication skills;
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
