Payments are a critical part of our growth strategy and we're now looking for a Head of Payments to take our global high-risk payments network to the next stage.

As we scale and transform our business, this is a brand-new role designed for someone ready to take full ownership of our payments ecosystem. We're launching multiple products across different markets, each requiring its own payment setup, partners, and compliance considerations.

We need a senior-level expert who can design, optimise, and future-proof our payment operations from the ground up. Someone who thrives in building systems, negotiating high-value partnerships, and making data-driven decisions that directly impact growth and profitability.

This is your chance to own the payments function end-to-end and build it into a high-performance engine that drives our success.

What You'll Do

You will own our entire payments infrastructure, ensuring maximum approval rates, minimal costs, and top-tier partner relationships. Your key deliverables will include:

  • Build & Expand our global high-risk payment network by sourcing, negotiating, and onboarding top PSPs, acquirers, APMs, and banking partners.
  • Optimise Payment Flows: monitor MID performance, 3DS, cascading logic, MCC setups to increase approval rates and reduce costs.
  • Enhance Settlement & Payouts: secure the best FX rates, reduce transfer fees, and implement efficient reconciliation processes.
  • Reduce Risk: develop chargeback mitigation strategies, RDR programs, and fraud detection methods for high-spending users.
  • Create Powerful Reporting: work with BI & Product teams to deliver real-time dashboards and PCI-compliant, high-conversion payment pages.

What Success Looks Like (First 3–6 Months)

  • 10%+ reduction in payment processing costs.
  • 10%+ increase in approval/conversion rates.
  • Fully operational real-time payment performance dashboard.
  • 2–3 new high-performing PSP/APM integrations live.
  • Solid chargeback mitigation setup in place.
  • Bank accounts live for all entities.

What You'll Bring

Must-haves:

  • 5+ years' experience in the payments industry, across PSP, acquirer, and/or merchant roles.
  • Proven track record in high-risk, global, multi-geo payment operations.
  • Strong network of PSPs, acquirers, banks, and APM providers.
  • Deep knowledge of 3DS, cascading strategies, MCC optimisation, decline code analysis, chargeback mitigation, and fraud detection.
  • Experience launching multi-entity payment setups.
  • Familiarity with Upgate, Rocketgate, PaymentIQ, or similar gateways.
  • Data-driven approach and BI collaboration skills.
  • Resilience and adaptability in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.

A stable career track record: While we understand that career changes can sometimes be influenced by circumstances beyond your control, we generally look for candidates who have demonstrated commitment and made a lasting impact in their previous roles. Having multiple short tenures (around 1–1.5 year) across several positions is typically not aligned with what we're looking for, as this role requires building long-term strategies and relationships.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience designing PCI-compliant embedded payment pages.
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
