About the Role

The Accounts Assistant provides essential accounting and administrative support to the finance function, helping maintain accurate financial records, process transactions, and support internal and external reporting requirements. This role is ideal for candidates looking to build a foundation in finance within a fast-paced, regulated environment, while contributing to the setup and growth of the Limassol office.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile and monitor invoices, payments and financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records in line with EC Markets' policies.
• Process and file paperwork, including expenses, receipts, payment requests, bank statements and invoices, ensuring timely and organised documentation for the Cyprus entity.
• Enter financial data into accounting systems, maintaining up-to-date ledgers and records for the Limassol office and group reporting.
• Support month-end and year-end financial reporting, including preparation of schedules, reconciliations and supporting documents for internal and external audits.
• Manage petty cash transactions and track departmental expenditures, ensuring adherence to approval limits and documentation standards.
• Liaise with clients, suppliers and colleagues to resolve finance-related queries and ensure timely processing of payments and receipts.
• Maintain compliance with company policies, internal controls and relevant financial regulations applicable to Cyprus operations.
• Assist with general administrative tasks such as filing, mail processing and organising finance-related meetings or appointments as required.
• Operate accounting software and spreadsheets for data management and reporting, supporting local and group finance processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related subject.
• Eligibility to work in Cyprus and willingness to be based in Limassol.

Required Skills

• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills, with a focus on accuracy in data entry and reconciliations.
• Good understanding of basic accounting principles and financial processes.
• Experience with accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks or similar) and proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel preferred).
• Effective verbal and written communication skills for dealing with clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a small local team within a fast-paced, growing office environment.
• Previous experience in accountancy, finance, administration or similar roles (desirable but not essential for entry-level candidates).

Preferred Skills

• Interest in financial markets or previous experience in a financial services or brokerage company.
• Willingness to learn and develop, with a proactive approach to improving financial processes and supporting a new office setup.
• Knowledge of local Cypriot accounting or tax practices would be an advantage.

Pay range and compensation package

• 13th salary

• ATA (Automatic Indexation Allowance) – The adjustment is applied every January, based on the official percentage announced. If the employee is still with the company at that time, the adjustment is applied to their monthly gross salary.
