Senior Financial Analyst

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Analyst who will play a key role in financial planning, budgeting, and strategic decision-making by analyzing financial statements and reports, developing financial models, preparing projections, and conducting research and analysis to support management initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities

Financial Planning and Analysis

• Develop financial projections and build comprehensive financial models to support strategic decision-making.
• Analyze financial statements and reports to assess the company's financial status
• Track financial KPIs and generate reports to support budgeting and monthly closing processes.
• Conduct thorough research of historical financial data to identify trends, perform variance analysis, and recommend optimization strategies.

Reporting and Financial Insights:

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports that accurately reflect the company's performance and financial health.
• Utilizes financial systems and advanced BI reporting tools to analyze large data sets and enhance decision-making.
• Analyze current financial status by comparing anticipated vs. actual results, identifying key areas of improvement.
• Provide actionable insights to senior management on financial performance, highlighting cost-reduction opportunities and revenue enhancement strategies.

Investment and Strategic Analysis:

• Explore investment opportunities, including fleet expansion, new routes, and technology upgrades, ensuring alignment with company goals.
• Evaluate risk and potential opportunities of investments, collaborating with the CFO and executive team on long-term financial planning.
• Develop benchmarking models to assess investment opportunities.
• Provide financial guidance in strategic meetings, ensuring investments align with the company financial objectives.

Risk Management and Mitigation:

• Identify and assess financial risks related to currency fluctuations, fuel price volatility, and geopolitical events.
• Propose strategies to mitigate financial risks, ensuring the company's financial stability.
• Monitor the global economic environment and regulatory landscape that may affect the company's financial performance.

Cost Control and Operational Efficiency:

• Work closely with operational teams to identify cost-saving opportunities, implementing best practices in financial management and operational efficiency.
• Prepare cost projections and assist in establishing financial policies to control expenditure.
• Review accounting transactions for data accuracy, ensuring all financial activities align with internal policies and external regulations.
• Support budget development and resource allocation to maximize financial efficiency.

Market Analysis and Competitive Benchmarking:

• Regularly analyze market trends, competitor performance, and industry benchmarks to identify opportunities and risks.
• Translate market insights into strategic recommendations for business growth.
• Coordinate with marketing and sales teams to align financial strategy with market trends.
• Establish financial policies that enhance the company's competitive position and profitability.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• MBA or relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA) is a plus.
• 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, preferably within the maritime, shipping, or logistics sectors.
• Strong proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, data analytics and budgeting.
• Advanced knowledge of financial systems and BI tools
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders and make strategic recommendations.
