Junior In-House Lawyer
to join our growing team in Nicosia.

Job Description: Junior In-House Lawyer

Monday – Friday 09:00 – 18:00 (1-hour lunch break)

Key Responsibilities

  • Support AEON in interpreting and applying Cyprus and EU regulatory frameworks relevant to payment institutions/EMI, including but not limited to PSD2/PSD3, AML, and GDPR.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including client agreements, vendor contracts, and service-level agreements.
  • Assist in preparing legal documentation for licensing, regulatory filings, and compliance reporting to the Cyprus Central Bank and other authorities.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and update internal policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Monitor, review, and interpret card scheme rules and requirements (e.g. Visa, Mastercard etc.) to ensure AEON remains compliant.
  • Assist in drafting, review internal policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Provide legal advice on laws/regulation/directives that relate to the activities of the company.
  • Support the compliance function in AML/KYC policy drafting and transaction monitoring legal frameworks.
  • Provide legal guidance on data protection compliance, including support on GDPR implementation, General Terms & Conditions, data processing activities, privacy notices, and data subject rights management.
  • Liaise with external legal advisors and regulators as required.
  • Contribute to training sessions for internal teams on legal and compliance requirements.
  • Assist in dispute resolution and litigation management.

Requirements

  • Law degree (LLB or equivalent); admission to the Cyprus Bar Association is an advantage.
  • 1–3 years of post-qualification experience, ideally in corporate/commercial law or compliance.
  • Knowledge of data protection laws (GDPR), prior DPO experience or certification is an asset.
  • Strong drafting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Greek.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a small team.
  • Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop in a fast-paced regulatory environment.
  • High ethical standards and attention to detail.
