Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented senior accountant to join our finance team in our Head Office in Limassol, Cyprus. The senior accountant should perform complex accounting activities and financial analysis utilizing hands-on accounting experience and in-depth understanding of accounting principles and company practices. An outstanding senior accountant should also possess strong Excel skills, be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work with little to no supervision and perform under pressure.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and reconciling bank accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Maintaining, on a daily basis, the portfolio of money market placements and interest income bookings.
  • Maintaining, on a daily basis, the portfolio of derivatives (FX Forwards, FX Swaps, Bunker Swaps, etc.), recognition of revaluation gains/losses, recognition of margin calls, an all-other related bookings.
  • Preparing local and special tax returns and liaising with the Company's tax advisor to file before deadline.
  • Preparing VAT reports and liaising with the Company's tax advisor to file before deadline.
  • Maintaining the portfolio of leases on a monthly basis by preparing the computation sheet of IFRS 16 and recording identified right-of-use assets and lease liabilities accordingly.
  • Deferring periodic general and administrative charges and recording related expenses on a monthly basis.
  • Reconciling balances with related parties on a monthly basis.
  • Recording invoices received from the Branch in Beirut.
  • Preparing payments to all the Company's non-operational vendors.
  • Following up with the Company's accounts receivable after coordinating with the head of receivables unit.
  • Assisting with annual audit preparations.
  • Performing other accounting duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience.
  • Working knowledge of Cyprus tax laws and social security circulars.
  • Working knowledge in IFRS.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong financial analysis skills.
  • Ability to work with little to no supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel.
  • Proficiency in the Greek and English languages.
