Finance Operations Specialist

This is a pivotal role dedicated to maximizing the financial efficiency and governance of our digital service portfolio, specifically focusing on Cloud consumption and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) expenditures.

We are seeking a specialist who unites acute financial acumen with technical fluency to establish rigorous cost control. This individual will be instrumental in the practical application of systems (such as cost management platforms or advanced usage tracking tools) to monitor, govern, and optimize our sprawling list of digital licenses and infrastructure usage.

The Finance Operations Specialist will act as a key liaison, working across Finance, Procurement, IT Operations, and Engineering, ensuring that all spending on critical digital services is fully transparent, accurately predictable, and directly tied to measurable business value. Key mandates include optimizing license utilization, driving vendor negotiation strategies, precise expenditure forecasting, and embedding a culture of cost consciousness across the technology organization while fostering strong internal partnerships.

Core Responsibilities:

• Lead the optimization and financial governance strategy for all public cloud services and third-party SaaS applications.
• Operate and leverage specialized SaaS license management tools and cloud cost platforms to gain granular insights into utilization and waste.
• Establish and enforce clear cost allocation methodologies across business units to promote spending accountability.
• Develop accurate spending forecasts for cloud and SaaS portfolios, highlighting risks and opportunities for senior leadership.
• Orchestrate license lifecycle management, identifying underutilized or redundant subscriptions for timely reclamation and savings.
• Collaborate closely with technical teams to recommend and implement architectural or configuration changes that drive cost efficiency without compromising performance or security.
• Serve as the primary subject matter expert on vendor billing models, contractual terms, and negotiation points for digital service agreements.

Essential Qualifications :

• Demonstrable history (5+ years preferred) in a role centered on cloud financial management, IT cost transparency, or enterprise software asset optimization.
• Practical command of a specialized SaaS management or cloud financial operations (FinOps) platform (e.g., Torii, Flexera, Cloudability, or equivalent enterprise toolset).
• Strong foundation in data analysis and financial modeling, capable of transforming complex usage logs and billing data into clear, actionable economic recommendations.
• Proven capability to design, implement, and integrate data pipelines for automated cost reporting, monitoring, and chargeback systems.
• Exceptional cross-functional communication and influencing skills, able to drive consensus and behavioral change with both technical and senior business stakeholders.
• Working knowledge of the core financial and billing mechanisms for at least one major public cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

• Active engagement in the FinOps community or possession of a relevant certification (e.g., FinOps Certified Practitioner).
• Exposure to centralized identity and access management solutions (such as Okta or Azure AD) as a lever for license governance.
• Background in strategic vendor negotiations, contract reviews, or annual financial budgeting cycles.
