The Role:
The VASP Compliance Officer will be responsible for day-to-day activities related to compliance matters and assisting members of the Compliance team in fulfilling the group's regulatory obligations. This role involves handling a variety of tasks and assisting in maintaining the accuracy of compliance records such as trainings, policies, correspondence, reports, procedures, and manuals.
How You Can Make a Difference:
- Ensure compliance with the BVI Virtual Assets Service Providers Act, the Anti-Money Laundering Regulations & Code of Practice, and relevant FSC guidance
- Maintain, update, and enforce AML/CFT policies, procedures, and internal controls in line with BVI and FATF requirements
- Monitor regulatory developments and advise management of their impact on the company
- Oversee the implementation of customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), and ongoing monitoring processes
- Conduct and review risk assessments of clients, products, and services
- Implement and monitor transaction monitoring systems to detect suspicious activity
- Investigate unusual transactions and assist in preparing documentation for potential Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs)
- Provide regular compliance reports to senior management
- Maintain compliance records and ensure they are available for inspection
- Coordinate with auditors, regulators, and external advisors as needed
- Support the completion of regulatory filings, reports, and responses to FSC or other competent authorities.
- Assist in monitoring regulatory developments and keeping internal teams updated.
- Deliver AML/CFT and compliance training to employees on a regular basis
- Foster a strong compliance culture throughout the company
- Assist the Group Compliance and AML Department with any other duties as may be reasonably required
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from a university in Law, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of AML regulations, FATF recommendations, and international AML/CFT standards applicable to cryptocurrencies and virtual assets
- Professional certifications (e.g., CAMS, ICA, ACAMS) are an advantage
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in compliance or AML/CFT, preferably in virtual assets or financial services
