Head of Development

As the Head of Development, you will lead distributed engineering teams responsible for building and scaling our gaming platforms. You will drive the technical direction of the company while managing execution across multiple product lines. This role requires deep technical experience, excellent leadership skills, and a hands-on approach to architecture, planning, and delivery. You will be responsible for building efficient teams, defining standards, and guiding the implementation of reliable and high-performance systems for both internal and external users.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor engineering teams across multiple locations, setting clear expectations, conducting evaluations, and fostering a culture of collaboration and technical excellence.
• Drive Agile development practices including Scrum, Kanban, sprint planning, and daily standups, using Jira and other tools to maintain visibility and accountability.
• Oversee the complete development lifecycle from planning and estimation to implementation, code reviews, and production releases.
• Define the technical roadmap and make strategic decisions on architecture, tools, and infrastructure across all platforms.
• Own data source management: define standards, structure & catalog all data sources, enforce validation/quality checks, and ensure seamless integration of new data sources.
• Lead documentation & reporting: keep clear, updated docs on sources/schemas/workflows to ensure transparency and knowledge sharing
• Guide the containerization of systems using Docker and Kubernetes, supporting scalable deployments and efficient operations.
• Promote clean, maintainable, and high-performance TypeScript and backend code, with a focus on real time systems for gaming and live video streaming.
• Manage Linux based environments, including low level system administration, shell scripting, and monitoring across production systems
• Optimize performance across APIs, databases, and storage layers, designing scalable data models and resolving backend bottlenecks
• Collaborate closely with product, QA, DevOps, and Security to align on requirements, testing strategies, and deployment workflows
• Act as a bridge between technical, creative, and business teams to align priorities, resolve conflicts, and maintain execution focus
• Oversee development budgets, resource planning, and infrastructure investments, while participating in hiring and onboarding across technical roles
  
  

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
• Proven experience (5+ years) in a leadership role within software development, preferably in the iGaming or gaming industry.
• Strong technical background with expertise in software development methodologies, architectures, and technologies web/mobile development, cloud services, databases).
• Proven experience managing data-sources, documentation, and reporting processes
• Excellent project management skills with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
  
  

Skills that would be advantageous for this position:

• Experience with and Python for backend development.
• Hands-on experience with AI technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs) for natural language processing, and computer vision/recognition frameworks such as MediaPipe and YOLO. 
• Expertise in containerization and orchestration using Docker and Docker Compose for deployments. 
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure on AWS (e.g., EC2, S3, ECS) and on-premises setups using Proxmox for virtualization.
• Experience deploying applications on local GPU-equipped machines and training models on high-powered cloud GPUs.
