Health And Safety Coordinator

Our client is one of the leading building and civil engineering construction groups in Cyprus with a history of over 60 years in the construction sector. It has successfully completed projects in Cyprus, Greece, UK and the Middle East and is involved in all sectors of the construction industry, from concrete and asphalt production to high rise buildings. They are looking to hire a H&S (Health & Safety) Coordinator to join their teams based in Limassol, Nicosia and Larnaca.
The successful candidate will be accountable for promoting and ensuring compliance of all Group activities on matters relating to health, safety, security and environment (HSSE). The HSSE Coordinator is also responsible to monitor standards, processes, communications, training and systems to ensure all responsibilities associated with HSSE within the Group are adhered based on legislative requirements and the Group's policies and procedures.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
• Ensures compliance to the Group Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) policy and procedures, adhering to the respective local HSSE legislation and remains abreast of any changes
• Regularly inspects the sites and in co-operation with the Site Engineer ensures that all relevant procedures are being properly implemented and identifies hazards, assesses risks and suggests the necessary control measures to mitigate identified risks
• Assists in the development, implementation and communication of HSSE documentation and procedures in accordance with the Group's HSSE system objectives, as well as with the applicable local regulations
• Keeps up to date the Health, Safety, Security & Environment commitments register, that involves documenting all office and site-based permits, local Health, Safety, Security and Environmental plan requirements and associated evidence
• Provides technical expertise and input to pre-qualifications, request for quotations and tender evaluations
• Develops and maintains processes for ensuring the timely reporting and updating of the HSSE system
• Assists the QHSSE Officer to ensure compliance with the corporate, health and safety management system by monitoring and coordinating each project's Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environment plan
• Carries out the relevant risk assessments and identifies solutions to mitigate any risks proactively
• Ensures H&S training, so that Group policies and procedures are adhered to properly
• Ensures that all staff assigned as health, safety and environment appointed contacts are properly trained according to defined guidelines as required by local legislation and Group policies
• Coordinates the development and implementation of Health, Safety, Security and Environmental training programs
• Performs HSSE induction in the Office for new joiners and delivers all HSSE related trainings
• Ensures that all incidents are properly documented, reported and investigated
• Ensures the sites' smooth operations at all times.
• Coordinates the site activities under the directions of the Project/Asphalt Operations/Facilities Manager in all respects liaising with the client stakeholders, the project consultants and the project team members, including the site foreman, land and quantity surveyors, operators and workers.
• Suggests, implements and communicates changes to working practices that are safe and comply with legislation
• General:
o Updates accordingly the appropriate Management Information System, within the HSSE team
o Keeping abreast with developments related to own role
o Other responsibilities and authorities as defined in the Group's procedures or as instructed by the Quality, Health & Safety Officer
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other departments.
