Role Description

Under the general guidance of the IT Manager, the successful candidate is responsible for ensuring that the hotel's computer systems are properly installed and operational, that system security measures are in place, that computer hardware is well maintained, that systems are utilized to their maximum potential, and that new systems are implemented to enhance hotel efficiency and profitability in accordance with hotel standards and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports the IT Manager in the daily operation and maintenance of hotel computer systems, networks, servers, and peripheral devices to ensure smooth and uninterrupted functionality.
  • Assists in installing, testing, and updating approved hardware and software systems under supervision.
  • Performs regular system data backups and verifies backup integrity in line with hotel IT policy.
  • Assists in the upkeep of server rooms by monitoring environmental conditions and reporting maintenance needs.
  • Ensures that antivirus and other security software are current and operational across all devices.
  • Offers basic troubleshooting support and guidance, maintaining a service-oriented and respectful approach.
  • Responds to user access issues, software errors, and hardware malfunctions, escalating more complex issues to the IT Manager.
  • Conducts basic troubleshooting on PMS, POS, and other hotel systems, referring unresolved problems to the IT Manager.
  • Assists with IT project rollouts, software upgrades, and system implementations under guidance.
  • Helps maintain the functionality of guest-facing technologies, such as in-room entertainment systems, internet connectivity, and digital key access.
  • Supports the IT Manager with monitoring IT resource usage, including software licenses and system performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in IT support or systems administration, preferably in a hospitality or service industry environment
  • Proficient in managing, troubleshooting, and maintaining hotel systems including Property Management Systems (e.g., Opera), Point-of-Sale systems (e.g., Micros), and back-office applications
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong customer service orientation with a commitment to guest satisfaction
