Role Purpose
Deliver high-quality, inquiry-driven Design (MYP) and Design Technology (DP), engaging students in authentic, project-based learning that builds creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and ethical use of technology. Differentiate for diverse learners and integrate real-world applications aligned with IB principles.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Curriculum
- Plan and teach rigorous MYP Design and DP Design Technology units aligned to IB aims, concepts, skills, and assessment criteria.
- Design differentiated learning experiences that develop the design cycle, computational thinking, prototyping, CAD/CAM, and iterative critique.
- Integrate interdisciplinary links and real-world briefs; embed sustainability and ethics in design choices.
Assessment & Reporting
- Use formative and summative assessment aligned with IB criteria; provide timely, actionable feedback; maintain accurate records and produce clear reports for students and parents.
Student Engagement & Support
- Mentor students in independent and collaborative projects; cultivate a positive studio culture that encourages curiosity, creativity, risk-taking, and reflection.
- Differentiate strategies and collaborate with Learning Support to ensure access and challenge for all learners.
Collaboration & Professional Learning
- Work closely with MYP/DP Coordinators and colleagues to ensure vertical/horizontal alignment and smooth progression between MYP and DP.
- Contribute to faculty moderation, common tasks, and continuous improvement; engage in ongoing professional development and share best practice.
Resources, Workshop & Safety
- Maintain safe, well-organised design studios/workshops; model and enforce H&S routines (tools, machines, PPE, risk assessments).
- Support planning for equipment, consumables, and digital platforms (e.g., CAD/CAM, 3D printers, laser cutters) to meet curriculum needs.
Community & Enrichment
- Contribute to co-curricular experiences (e.g., maker clubs, robotics, coding, design competitions), exhibitions, and community events that showcase student learning.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Design / Product/Industrial Design / Technology Education / Engineering (as required by the Cyprus MoE);
- Master's and a teaching qualification are advantageous.
- 5+ years relevant teaching experience preferred;
- Prior IB MYP and/or DP experience is highly valued.
- Evidence of strong student outcomes;
- Expertise in curriculum design, assessment, and inquiry-based pedagogy.
- High level of digital literacy (CAD/CAM and maker technologies);
- Fluent English (B2).

- Online trial lesson (≈60 minutes) or record of the lesson provided. .
