Global business activities in the marine engineering sector, international colleagues spread world wide and a top notch professional team at a local level in Nicosia Cyprus. Reporting to the CFO, this role is operational with a strong overall business view and requires strong acumen and experience in hands on operations and commercial. The successful candidate will have proven project management and/or commercial management experience with good financial acumen and analysis skills.

Job Description

  • Develop and implement the company's commercial strategy in alignment with business goals.
  • Provide strategic input to senior management on market trends, pricing, and business opportunities.
  • Lead commercial planning for bids, tenders, and long-term contracts.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost plans in coordination with project managers and finance teams.
  • Monitor project financial performance, identifying variances and implementing corrective measures.
  • Approve and validate payment applications, invoices, and variations.
  • Ensure commercial reporting is accurate, timely, and aligned with company financial objectives.
  • Support business development by identifying new opportunities and building relationships with clients and partners.
  • Contribute to bid and tender submissions, ensuring commercially sound proposals.
  • Negotiate terms and pricing to secure profitable contracts.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, procurement, project management, and finance departments to ensure commercial alignment.
  • Report regularly to senior management on commercial performance and key metrics.
  • Act as a commercial advisor to project teams, offering guidance on contractual and financial issues.
  • Drive process improvements in commercial practices, contract management, and cost control. Implement lessons learned from completed projects to enhance future performance.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, market conditions, and relevant legislation.
  • Ensure internal and external reporting deadlines are met by communicating and delegating to key members of the team where necessary.
  • Valid and take ownership of reports in anticipation for further analysis or decision-making questions.

Your Profile

  • Experience in a commercial operational and/or commercial leadership role within shipping, construction, or engineering is essential.
  • Degree-level education in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Business, Finance, or Economics (or equivalent).
  • Strong commercial and financial management skills, including cost estimation, budgeting, forecasting, P&L understanding, project financing, and cash flow management.
  • Experience in commercial contract management.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking, including involvement in bids and tenders.
  • Knowledge of resource cost analysis and calculations.
  • Effective leadership and clear communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems.
  • Financial acumen and expertise in cost management.
